the civil rights movement and martin luther king march on washington. Mural 
paint as summer youth art program with Little Black Pearl Work Shop.A total of 
10 high school students worked on the mural as there summer job. This was also 
Rahmaan Statik's first art teaching job. commissioned mural.

This was commissioned by 
Wendell Smith Elementary School. The mural was to show respect to 
Wendell Smith who was an African-American sportswriter who was 
influential in the choice of Jackie Robinson to become the first 
African-American player in Major League Baseball in the 20th century.
